Thrust Areas

1) Health Concern
A series of lectures (2 lectures in each class with question and answer session) delivered to the girls of class 8, 9 and 10 of Girls’ school of Kasturbadham village on Puberty and related issues with audio-visual aids by Dr Pratimaben Parikh.

2) Literacy
On 12th February, There was inauguration of one of the biggest literacy project of the second century by Rotary club of Rajkot Midtown, “Rotary Midtown Library”. Please find the details in public image section.

3) Public Image
Service and fellowship activity:

b.On 4th February, All four clubs of Rajkot gave a farewell to GSE team from UK, district 1180. DG Ashis, first lady Meera and PDG Devendra Shashtri specially came all the way from Vapi and Surat and graced the occasion. GSE Team gave superb presentation about the culture, industry & different aspects of their region. It was a very memorable evening.

c. On 12th February 2006, there was the inauguration of one of the biggest literacy project of the second century by Rotary Club of Rajkot Midtown, “Rotary Midtown Library”.

Our Ex-Finance minister Vajubhai Vala inaugurated this state of the art library. Chief guests were Hon. Minister Vallabhbhai Kathiria, MLA Tapubhai Limbasiya, Mayor Dhansukhbhai Bhanderi, Standing committee chairman Nitinbhai Bharadwaj, Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar and eminent writer of Gujarat Shri Saurabh Shah graced the occasion.

All the dignitaries including firebrand speaker Saurabhbhai Shah praised the efforts of Rotary club of Rajkot Midtown for setting up this unique library.

Large gathering of rotary family and citizens witnessed this historic occasion.

d. On 17th February, We had a fellowship meeting. Everybody enjoyed this meeting.

e. On 24th February, There was a speaker meeting. The speaker was an eminent Cardio-thoracic Surgeon of Rajkot, Dr Devendra Dekiwadia. He has visited Himalaya dozens of times. His very interesting talk and presentation was on “Understanding the mighty Himalayan Ranges”. It was an ecstasy to see the slide show of Himalayas.

f. Members of Rotary Club of Rajkot Midtown sent best wishes to President Dan Herbert & Members of Rotary Club of Washago & Area Centennial of District 7010 Canada on their first Birthday of their club. They were chartered on 23rd Feb 2005. They are one of the only 46 clubs in the world to receive charter on 100th Anniversary of Rotary. This club is formed from a very small community of 1000 people but very strong in their community works & on International relations.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE

1) Reporting of Permanent Vocational Training projects.
RC Rajkot Midtown is running Permanent Women’s Vocational Training Centre “Swashray”. Various training classes are conducted for Sewing, Beautician, Garba, Embroidery and Computer class where in poor and needy women and their children of nearby areas have an opportunity to learn the proper and scientific method of the courses offered by the qualified and experienced trainers..
