COMMUNITY SERVICE

1) Most Innovative (Trend Setting) Project
(A) ROTARY MIDTOWN LIBRARY:
The mega project of the second century. This mega project worth Rs. 75 lacs is a joint venture with Rajkot Municipal Corporation.

The highlights of “Rotary Midtown Library”
• Most modern Building
• Excellent location
• Over 1000 well chosen CDs, DVDs of English movies, documentaries, Children movies and cartoons etc.
• More than 4000 books in English on all subjects personally chosen by us
• Computers with free internet connection
• Audio –visual room (Infotheque) with all modern facilities
• Photocopier, scanners and colour laser printer etc.
• Computerised records
• Network with Lang library and other libraries of Rajkot
• Network with international reference centres
• Over 170 national and international newspapers and magazines
• Students reading zone
• MIDTOWN MANAGEMENT SIGNIFYING EXCELLENCE…!

(B) ROTARY DOLLS’ MUSEUM:
(PRIDE - NOT ONLY FOR OUR DISTRICT 3060, BUT A LANDMARK FOR ENTIRE ROTARY WORLD)
The Rotary Dolls’ Museum gives an opportunity to children for learning cultures and traditions of more than 91 countries through the medium of toys and kiosk. “This Museum will also bring more tourists to Rajkot and put this small city on the India’s tourism map.

Some facts:
• More than 1550 dolls from more than 91 countries around the world
• Each doll has been displayed with details about its origin and characteristic of the country it belongs to
• India’s 1st Museum to have dolls from so many countries
• 75000 emails exchanged till date.
• 9000 sq. ft space in the heart of city
• It has a Cinematheque (theatre room) for showing audiovisual documentary.
• Interactive Audiovisual Kiosk, which gives Geographical, Historical, Cultural information
• To have complete round of RDM with Tour managers who give various information you need nearly about 2.5 hrs. i.e. 2.5 hrs of knowledge with fun.

2) Polio Eradication Initiative:
On 26th February, NID for polio eradication drive was arranged. We were given two wards of Rajkot (ward no 18 and 19). Total 56 booths were covered by Midtowners. Along with Rotarians, our very active 50 Interactors from Interact club of Maharani Laxmibai School have also done fantastic work in this polio eradication drive. All Interactors and Rotarians involved went door to door to motivate families to come to the nearby polio booth for vaccination.

(a) Blood Donation Camp:
• A blood donation camp was organised on 23rd February
• Collected 28 units of blood
• 15 Rotarians attended the camp and rendered their services and extended their friendship

(b) “Hear Better, Live Better”:
• On 29th January, Sunday, we had our annual mega ear camp.
• 312 patients were examined.
• 50 patients are selected for surgery.
• 204 hearing aids were distributed to needy.
• More than 25 Rotarians volunteered and helped in the very smooth conduction of the camp.

c) Mega Ear Surgery Camp and Workshop
• On 4th Saturday & 5th Sunday of February, Dr A. G. Pusalkar and Dr Sunil Mody operated selected patients from
   8.30 AM till 5.00 PM.
• 40 ENT surgeons from Saurashtra watched the surgery on 5th February, Sunday.
• 20 Rotarians rendered their services for the camp and workshop on 4th & 5th February and encouraged and help
   for the smooth functioning.
• Total 20 surgeries were done in these two days.
• DG. Ashish Roy & Vipul Patel from RC Vapi visited on 5th February & motivated us.
• 40 ENT surgeons from Saurashtra took benefit of live demonstration of very fine surgeries.
